My work is an attempt to show growth and beauty in the urban landscape. While being a Chicago resident, I often realize the lack of open gardens and natural spaces. Through large wall paintings, paper collages, and paintings, the colors and shapes show an abundance of growth in attempt to beautify and create a space of solitude. I am interested in making subtle hue differences, changing either the temperature or intensity of the color. The organic nature, the imperfection of the painted abstract shapes of my work struggles against but also coexists in a more structured environment such as the layering or stacking of the pieces. These paintings/installations are an attempt to show the building and layering of ground, creating a dialogue between the organic pieces and the more structured stacking of layers.
