ChiTech Visual Arts
Art I students will gain the necessary skills, techniques, and knowledge to create a foundation in art. This course will include art production, criticism, aesthetics, and history. While students will be producing artwork during each unit of study, this class will also have lectures, reading, critiques, outside speakers, presentations and student driven exhibitions to help deliver a complete art educational experience. Students will explore the practices of contemporary artists, including the subjects, materials, issues, and themes of artists working today.

How do artists visually communicate a message, idea, or concept?
What purpose, roles, and responsibilities do contemporary artists have?
What are the subjects, issues, themes important to artists working today?
What makes something a work of art?
